Polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH, PVA) is a water-solublesynthetic polymer. It has the idealized formula [CH2CH(OH)]n. It is used inpapermaking, textile warp sizing, as a thickener and emulsion stabilizer inpolyvinyl acetate (PVAc) adhesive formulations, in a variety of coatings, and3D printing.

It is colourless (white) and odorless.It is commonly supplied as white flake, flocculent or powder solid. Without anexternally added crosslinking agent, PVA solution can be gelled throughrepeated freezing-thawing, yielding highly s trong, ultrapure, biocompatiblehydrogels which have been used for a variety of applications such as vascularstents, cartilages, contact lenses, etc.

Application for building putty andmortar, improving   the flexibility, water retention and increase viscosityof mortar and putty. It can be used for paper making, sizing material fortextile, adhesive and film as well.
